The first floor has a living room, a foyer, and a large veranda with mahogany wood floors and a deck, and the second floor features four bedrooms. Plenty of art glass light sconces are everywhere, in keeping with Wright’s vision to bring as much light into the house as possible. The restoration project began in earnest in 1992 with the formation of the Martin House Restoration Complex (MHRC). Reconstruction of the site and of the building started in 1996 by the late Ted Lowney of HHL Architects, and was completed under the auspices of Matt Meier and Jamie Robideau. When the 34-year-old Frank Lloyd Wright was commissioned by self-made millionaire Darwin D. Martin to design a family home in Buffalo, New York, the architect already had an impressive body of work behind him. While Buffalo is not technically part of the American Prairie, its location in western New York prompted the young architect to extend his then burgeoning style to the East.

The Barton House

The 1,668 square foot cottage, like other structures on the property, contains a signature pattern of art glass as well as built-in planters to bring nature closer to the interior. The Martin house was part of a larger complex, which ultimately included the Barton house; a long pergola connecting the Martin house to a glass-ceilinged conservatory and garage; and a gardener’s cottage. Tree House Sandwich is phenomenally different; we know this, and we know why. It has a tiny cooler capable of holding just a few pallets of beer and serving an order of magnitude fewer people. We understood this when we purchased the building and have been considering it ever since, spending north of six figures on a custom application to control it. This custom application will enable an order ahead model without first-come-first-served service.

Following the initial opening, and after finalizing further parking plans currently in the works, we will slowly and controllably scale the volume of people enabled to enter each day. The total number of draft tickets sold each day will not be driven by our legal occupancy but by ensuring we have a safe, laid back, reliable, and controllable environment for neighbors and the public to enjoy. Per the agreement, the brewery can have 19 customer parking spaces next to the building, but the rest will have to be provided offsite with transportation to the brewery. The newest of the bunch is opening its doors in summer 2021, and it should provide a unique experience for Cape Cod’s visitors. This location has had a streak of bad luck in staying open in the past. Before it was even considered for a brewery, there were a number of restaurants there — including the Drunken Seal and Horizons — that lasted just one or two seasons.
